Why TeamMeet

Declare independence from gatekeepers.

We made TeamMeet the obvious choice for teams from every angle. Here's how it stacks up against Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams on privacy, what you get for free, who owns your data, and everyday features. Every ✕ links to their own website, so you can check it yourself.

No download · no account for guests · no time limit

01 · Privacy

You decide if you're recorded.

On Zoom, Google Meet and Teams, if you don't want to be recorded you have to leave, stay silent, or stop the recording for everybody. On TeamMeet you press one button, and only you are left out.

What does reach us is what you get afterwards: the recording, the transcript and the chat. To write the transcript, the sound from your own microphone goes to Deepgram, a transcription company. The privacy page explains exactly how.

02 · What's free

Free means the whole meeting.

Their free plans cut your meeting off, and most of the recording, transcript and AI notes cost extra. Our calls go straight from computer to computer instead of through ours, so a long meeting costs us very little — and we don't charge you for the time.

03 · Your data

It belongs to the people who were there.

Not just to whoever set up the meeting. Not to your company's IT department. And it doesn't disappear when you stop paying.

04 · Features

The everyday basics are all here.

These are the things almost every meeting uses — and on most of them, all four apps are even. What they still do better is near the bottom of the page.

What else you get with TeamMeet

Always the right name

Each person's computer writes down only what they say, so the name next to every line is right — as long as everyone uses their own microphone.

Notes you can check

Every point in the AI notes shows the exact words someone said. If those words aren't in the transcript, the point is left out.

Pictures while you talk

As you talk, TeamMeet draws your ideas as pictures — and a shared whiteboard changes when you ask it to.

An AI helper you call by name

Say "Ova" and ask a question. It answers in the chat, using what's been said in the meeting and a search of the web.

Documents from the meeting

Ask for the follow-up email, a one-page summary, or a to-do for your developers — written from what was actually said.

Bring your own AI

If you use your own AI assistant, it can join the meeting, follow along and add notes. Free, and no approval process.

Bring your old meetings

Upload transcripts from Zoom, Google Meet, Otter or Read AI, and they're searchable on your first day.

A booking link that sets up the meeting

People pick a time and say what it's about. The meeting is ready right away, with their note at the top.

05 · Their record

What they did with your trust.

These aren't our claims. Each one comes from a government regulator, a court, a research lab or the company's own announcement, with a link. Some are about the whole company rather than its meeting app — the card says which.

06 · Gatekeepers

Declare independence.

We didn't invent the word “gatekeeper”. The European Union officially gave that title to Google's parent company and to Microsoft. And inside their apps, whether your guest can even get in comes down to an IT setting somewhere.

Officially “gatekeepers”

“The European Commission has today designated, for the first time, six gatekeepers - Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, ByteDance, Meta, Microsoft”

September 2023, under a European law called the Digital Markets Act. Alphabet is Google's parent company. The label covers services like Google Search, Chrome, Android and Windows — not Meet or Teams themselves. European Commission

Whether your guest gets in is an IT setting

“When this setting is turned off, anonymous users can't attend meetings hosted by anyone in your organization.”

That's Teams. Google has the same kind of switch for Meet, and Zoom can make guests sign in first. Sources 10–12

Your calendar decides which video app you get

“Only admin-installed add-ins will appear on the meeting compose screen, replacing the default Teams or Skype option.”

That's Outlook: only meeting apps your IT department installs show up. In Google Calendar, “your administrator controls the add-ons that you can use or install”. Microsoft · Google

Your meeting is kept in their cloud

“Meeting transcripts are saved in the meeting organizer's Google Drive”

That's Meet. Teams keeps them in the organizer's OneDrive, where company IT can search them. On Zoom, the account owner can watch and share them. Google · Sources 7, 9

What independence looks like

  • A link is the door, and the host has the key. Nothing to install, and no IT department between you and your guest.
  • Everyone who was there gets the recording and notes — and anyone can leave themselves out.
  • Your own AI can join. Free, with no app store to get past.
  • Leave whenever you like. Download any meeting on any plan, and bring your old ones with you.

Fair is fair. Where they're still ahead: calls with more than about ten cameras on, calling in from a phone line, breakout rooms, polls, blurred backgrounds, and the security certificates big companies ask for. They're on our list.

Make the switch today.

Start a meeting now — nobody needs an account, not even you. Or move your calendar over: get one link that's always yours, and swap it into your upcoming Zoom and Meet invites.
